High Court stays arrest of Raheel, son of Shakeel Ahmed for two weeks in Jubilee Hills case

The High Court bench consisting of Justice Vijay Sen Reddy in its interim orders also made it clear that the accused would have to face police action after two weeks.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday stayed the arrest of Raheel Aamir, the son of former Bodhan MLA Shakeel Ahmed belonging to the BRS party in the Jubilee Hills accident case.

The High Court bench consisting of Justice Vijay Sen Reddy in its interim orders also made it clear that the accused would have to face police action after two weeks.

On April 16,2024, Jubilee Hills police included his name as an accused in a road accident case that took place a couple of years ago. Kajol Chauhan, who was crossing the road selling balloons, was hit by a car on Road Number 45. Kajol's two-month-old son Ranveer died in the accident and Kajol was seriously injured.

Immediately after the accident, three persons fled from the spot in a car. Based on the sticker on the car, the police identified that it belonged to MLA Shakeel registered a case under Section 304 of the IPC, and started investigating the case.

Raheel was allegedly involved in a car accident near Praja Bhavan. However, after the accident, Raheel fled to Dubai. Another person was implicated as the driver in place of Raheel, facilitating his escape to Dubai.

The police registered a case against Raheel under various sections and issued lookout notices for him. On May 8, 2024 after his return from Dubai to Hyderabad, the police arrested him.
