Hyderabad police book online trolls of BRS MLC Kavitha

They were accused of publishing and circulating videos that are offensive, disrespectful, and defamatory of various prominent personalities

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad police have registered cases against 20 persons for trolling people’s representatives including BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha. Notices were issued to eight trolls for morphing pictures of Telangana women in obscene manner.

According to Sneha Mehra, DCP, Crime, some young persons between the ages of 20 and 30 were posting defamatory and insulting content with morphed pictures and videos against people’s representatives in order to increase their followers and TRP rating and earn money. BRS MLC Kavitha is one of the victims who was heavily trolled by these elements in the recent past.

Some of these youngsters are school or college dropouts while a few others are students. The Crime DCP said that the accused had been publishing and circulating videos that were offensive, disrespectful and defamatory in nature against several prominent personalities. The channels accused of trolling include TrollerKurradu, Mr Massabbayi, Yankamma Tolls, Telugu Trolls New, Chimtu Trolls, Team of Trolling, Banthipuvvu Trolls, Chandu Trolls and Chevilopuvvu.

They were frequently observed to be uploading content objectionable to women's basic modesty in their greed to gain more followers and likes. According to Sneha Mehra, such offences attract punishment under the relevant sections of the IPC and the Information Technology Act.

The trolls who were issued 41(A) notices are Attada Srinivasa Rao (Vizainagaram), Sirasani Mahikanth (Kadapa), Baddanj Sravan (Nizamabad), Motam Srinu (Warangal), Peraka Nagavenkata Jyothi Kiran (Krishna), Vadluri Naveen (Jagityal), Bolli Chandrashekar (Karimnagar) and Billa Srikanth (Kadapa).

The Hyderabad city police warned all the trolls against indulging in similar offensive trolls/memes targetting women. The police warned that, if necessary, criminal charges would also be pressed against such trolls.
