Attempted murder case filed against MLA Arekapudi Gandhi in attack on MLA Kaushik Reddy's house
Two separate FIRs registered against Arekapudi Gandhi and 15 others, including his followers.
HYDERABAD: A case of attempted murder has been filed against Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi following an attack on the residence of Huzurabad MLA Kaushik Reddy.
The Gachibowli police registered the case based on a complaint lodged by Kaushik Reddy. Gandhi's brother, son Prithvi, and corporators Venkatesh Goud and Srikanth were also named as accused.
The attack took place on September 12 when Arekapudi Gandhi's followers reportedly attacked Kaushik Reddy’s residence. The incident followed a series of challenges and counter-challenges between the two MLAs. Despite placing Kaushik Reddy under house arrest, police allegedly did not intervene when Gandhi and his convoy travelled 9 kilometres from Kukatpally to Kondapur. Upon arrival, Gandhi and his followers attacked the house, throwing tomatoes, eggs, and stones, causing significant damage, including breaking the windows and destroying flower pots.
Following the complaint, two separate FIRs were registered by the police. One FIR was based on Kaushik Reddy's complaint, which accused Gandhi and his followers of attacking his residence and attempting murder. The second FIR was filed by Gachibowli SI Mahesh Kumar Goud, who alleged obstruction in performing his duties.
The police have booked Arekapudi Gandhi and 15 others, including Uppalapati Srikanth, B. Gautam Goud, Rampalli Venkatesh, G. Ramulu, Naresh, Mela Shiva, Radhika, Manjula, Chandrika Goud, Rangam Nagender Yadav, D. Venkatesh Goud, Ashraf, Raghunath Reddy, and Mohan Goud under various sections, including 109(1), 189, 191(2), 191(3), 132, 329, 333, 324(4), 324(5), and 351(2) Red with 190 BNS.
In response to the police complaint regarding the obstruction of duties, another FIR was registered against Gandhi and his followers under sections 189, 191(2), 191(3), 61, 132, 329, 333, 324(4), 324(5), and 351(2) Red with 190 BNS.
