Eight killed, 20 injured in Chittoor bus accident

CHITOOR: Eight people were killed, and 20 others sustained injuries when a bus collided with a lorry in Chittoor district on the Bengaluru highway near Mogili Ghat on Friday.

According to police, a bus lost control and collided with an oncoming lorry. Shortly after, another lorry from behind hit the bus, worsening the impact.

The injured were rushed to hospitals in Bangarupalem and Palamaner for treatment. Officials feared that the death toll might rise as some of the injured were in critical condition.

The bus was travelling from Palamaner to Chittoor when the accident occurred. Preliminary investigations indicated that the bus lost control, leading to the crash. Rescue operations were underway, and traffic on the ghat road was backed up for several kilometres due to the accident.
