Bandi Sanjay walks out of Karimnagar jail; demands judicial probe into TSPSC leaks

KARIMNAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Telangana President Bandi Sanjay Kumar was released from the Karimnagar jail on Friday after he was granted bail on Thursday night by a Warangal District Court. The Karimnagar MP was arrested at around 1 am on Wednesday from his in-laws’ house here in connection with the SSC question papers leakage scandal.

Bandi Sanjay was released from the Karimnagar prison on Friday morning after the completion of all formalites on producing the court’s bail orders. The Karimnagar police have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 in the vicinity of the jail as a precautionary measure after a large number of BJP activists converged there to receive their leader.

Beefing up the security, the police warned people against unlawful assembly there. Similarly, vehicular movement was also restricted outside the prison complex even as orders were issued against taking out processions and holding meetings.

‘Why do they need my phone?’, Bandi Sanjay shoots back

In his first reaction after his release from the prison, Bandi Sanjay reiterated his three demands for a thorough probe into the TSPSC question papers scandal by a sitting judge, dismissal of IT Minister K T Rama Rao over the question paper leaks and payment of Rs 1 lakh compensation to all those job aspirants affected by the scam.

Speaking to the media outside the jail complex, the Karimnagar MP launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and his family. He alleged that he was victimised in the SSC question papers case purely to divert the public attention from the TSPSC case.

He also countered Warangal Commissioner of Police Ranganath that he refused to hand over his phone. “Why should I give my phone? Why do they need it?” he retorted. Bandi Sanjay also took on CP Ranganath and demanded that the police officer swear on his police cap and on martyrs to prove his sincerity in the case. “There was no case at all in the first place. I was deliberately implicated in it. How can they call it a leak when no question paper was leaked before the exam? And how am I responsible if someone forwarded the exposed question paper to me?

“The police should also explain how a mobile phone was allowed into the examination centre. Who would really want to leak a Hindi question paper? You blamed me for it. But what about the SSC Telugu question paper that also came out a day before? Why are you guys silent on who is behind it?,” he wondered.

Nation first, party next and family last

Bandi Sanjay expressed anguish that he was whisked away at a time when he and his family were mourning his mother-in-law, who has passed away recently. “My mother-in-law treated me like her own son. Everyone was still crying as the family was yet to recover from the shock (of the death) when the police arrived late on Tuesday night. The police showed no remorse in a mourning house and forcibly took me away. I’m not new to prisons. I was sent to jails for nine times till now for my fight over civic issues. We emulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his philosophy that ‘nation comes first, party next and family last’,” he said.

He vowed to continue his fight for a judicial probe into the TSPSC question paper scandal. Very soon, a massive rally will be organised in Warangal with the participation of job aspirants from among the 30-lakh affected people against the BRS government, the BJP Telangana chief said.
