HYDERABAD: If you wish to prevent the city from becoming a Union Territory (UT), it's imperative for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to secure a significant majority in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, as the leaders of Congress and BJP lack the power and authority to halt this transition, said KT Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Addressing a gathering of BRS youth leaders and social media warriors within the Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency on Monday, KTR emphasized that a victory for the BJP would jeopardise SC, ST, and minority reservations, a concern echoed directly by the BJP themselves. Additionally, there are allegations of a plot to undermine the constitution, along with accusations of leveraging water resources from the Godavari river to sway votes in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu under the guise of river linking, thereby depriving Telangana of its rightful share, he added.

To counteract these threats, KTR stressed the importance of electing BRS MPs to the Lok Sabha. He also predicted that Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would soon defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Highlighting the parliamentary contributions of BRS MPs over the past decade, KTR contrasted them with the lackluster performance of Congress and BJP representatives, especially from Telangana. He criticised the BJP and the Congress for its inability to question the Prime Minister effectively, despite having four MPs from Telangana. He also disparaged the BJP's Kishan Reddy for his perceived failure to address the needs of Malkajgiri constituency during his tenure as an MP.

KTR said that as the MP of Malkajgiri, Revanth Reddy could not accomplish anything for the constituency. Despite Hyderabad seeing the construction of 36 flyovers by the BRS government, the Centre government had failed to deliver even two.

Kishan Reddy had merely distributed Kurkure packets during COVID-19, and falsely credited Modi with inventing the COVID vaccine. Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis had attributed people's survival to Modi. Despite global oil price drops, petrol and diesel prices had surged in India, leading to increases in prices of essentials like pulses, salt, and tamarind, KTR said.

He argued that the Prime Minister's actions have not endeared him to the people, referring to him as merely a prime minister, not a beloved one.
