SIRCILLA: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) called upon the weavers of Sircilla to unite and elect BRS Karimnagar MP candidate Vinod Kumar to fight for the restoration of all the benefits that the BRS Government provided them during the past ten years.

Addressing a roadshow here on Friday, he said that the BRS Government provided gainful employment to weavers of Sircilla through government orders for Batukamma sarees, Ramjan and Christmas Tofas, and school uniforms. “Now the Congress Government gave no new orders and owes Rs 370 crore in pending bills. When the weavers asked justice local Congress leaders asked them to go sell ‘Nirodhs’ and ‘Papads’,” KCR said.

He said that when he reacted in sheer anger, the ECI barred him from electioneering for 48 hours. He recalled that he created a Trust with Rs 50 lakh as a capital for the sake of weavers during the agitation for Telangana.

“What has Prime Minister Modi done for weavers of Sircilla or Rajanna of Vemulawada? Modi waived corporate tax worth lakhs of crores for the ultra-rich but imposed GST on handlooms,” he pointed out. He said that Karimnagar’s BJP MP Bandi Sanjay did nothing for the Vemulawada Rajanna temple. “I have undertaken development works at the temple with State’s funds. There was no assistance from the Centre,” KCR added.

KCR said that the Congress Government with its lack of understanding of the Kaleshwaram project dried up the Mid-Manair reservoir failing crops under its command area. He urged voters to think before casting their vote on May 13, 2024.
