Corning and Telangana Government will collaborate to enhance local workforce skills and innovation in advanced manufacturing and chemical engineering.
NEW YORK: Corning Incorporated, a global leader in materials science, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana to collaborate on skilling and innovation initiatives. This partnership aimed to strengthen the local workforce and advance technological innovation in key industries within the state.
The MoU was formalised during a significant meeting between Corning's leadership team, led by Ronald Verkleeren, Senior Vice President of the Emerging Innovations Group, and Telangana's official team, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Minister for Industries D Sridhar Babu.
Under this agreement, Corning and Telangana designed and implemented programs focused on skilling the local workforce in advanced manufacturing and chemical engineering technologies. These initiatives aimed to ensure that Telangana’s talent pool remained competitive globally, aligning with the state’s vision of becoming a hub for cutting-edge research and development in the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors.
Additionally, Corning strengthened its partnership in the Flow Chemistry Technology (FCT) hub, a collaborative initiative involving the Government of Telangana, Dr. Reddy’s Limited, Laurus Pharma Limited, and the University of Hyderabad. Corning introduced its advanced Corning Advanced-Flow Reactors (AFR) technology during discussions with the Chief Minister, expressing a keen interest in developing and implementing flow chemistry technology in the state.
Corning also expressed gratitude to the Telangana government for its support in establishing a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical glass tubing facility. This facility, set to commence production by mid-2025, would enhance the availability of high-quality glass tubing for the pharmaceutical packaging industry. By integrating Corning’s innovative velocity glass-coating technology, the facility was expected to boost productivity and operational efficiencies in Telangana's rapidly expanding pharmaceutical sector.
The company leadership praised the Telangana government, under the leadership of Revanth Reddy, for fostering an environment conducive to industrial and economic growth.
