Harish Rao pledges support to students affected by controversial MBBS admission rule
Parents of students affected by GO 33, which outlines eligibility for MBBS and BDS courses in Telangana, met with BRS MLA Harish Rao to express their concerns.
HYDERABAD: BRS MLA T Harish Rao has pledged his support to students affected by a controversial government order that has thrown MBBS and BDS admissions into disarray.
Parents from Hyderabad, Warangal, and Khammam districts met with Harish Rao to express their concerns over GO 33, which they say is detrimental to the future of Telangana's aspiring medical students.
Under the contentious four-year rule stipulated in the order, students born in Telangana but who have completed their education elsewhere are considered non-locals, putting them at a disadvantage when competing for medical seats. Parents argued that this rule deprives qualified students of the opportunity to pursue medical education in their home state.
Harish Rao assured the parents that he would fight against the controversial order, emphasising his commitment to safeguarding the future of Telangana's students. He urged them to remain calm and assured them of the BRS party's unwavering support.
He also called on the government to take immediate action, urging the formation of a high-level committee, including the Chief Secretary and other senior officials, to address the issue. Harish Rao stressed the need for a new policy that ensures fair and equitable admission opportunities for all eligible students from Telangana.
