IMD issues 'Yellow' thunderstorm warning for next five days

HYDERABAD: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'yellow' thunderstorm warning for the next five days. According to IMD, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) are very likely to occur at isolated places in several parts of Telangana.

Light to scattered rains are likely in some districts of Telangana state for the next three days, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-40 km per hour. Light to gusty winds with scattered showers are possible for the next three days.

The maximum temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 3° to 4° degrees over many districts during the next two to three days.

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are expected at isolated places for the next two days; thereafter, dry weather is expected for the third day. Maximum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 42° to 45°, while the minimum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 25° to 28° degrees in Telangana.

Dry weather is expected for the next three days. Maximum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 39° to 42° degrees, while the minimum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 26° to 28° degrees, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS).

The highest maximum temperature of 43.9°C was recorded at Arli (T) (Adilabad). The state's daily maximum average temperature is 39.3°C against the normal of 41.6°C. The highest maximum temperature of 39.8°C was recorded at Pillidarga Ward Office Borabanda (Hyderabad). The GHMC daily maximum average temperature is 38.1°C against the normal of 40.7°C, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS).

A low-pressure area has formed over north Tamil Nadu, south Andhra coast near southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal this morning under the influence of surface circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal yesterday. The associated surface period is currently 7.6 km above sea level, covering up to your height. This low pressure is likely to move in the northeast direction and strengthen as a cyclone over the central Bay of Bengal region on the 24th of this month. There is a possibility that this cyclone will move in the northeast direction, become stronger, and reach the northeast and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal region on the 25th of this month.

Conditions are favorable for the southwest monsoon to extend into the South Bay of Bengal, the rest of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and parts of the North Central Bay of Bengal. Low-level winds in the state are mainly from the east.

May 22 (Yellow): Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Komarambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagital, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, and Medak of Telangana.

May 23 (Yellow): Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Sangareddy, Nagarkurnool, and Wanaparthy of Telangana.

May 24 (Yellow): Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal of Telangana.

May 25 (Yellow): Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, and Nalgonda.
