WARANGAL: Urging the voters to strengthen the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to safeguard the interests of Telangana, former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has planned to link Godavari with Cauvery for BJP’s political gain in that State.

Addressing a massive street corner meeting here on Sunday despite severe heat, KCR said that the PM had already informed the State Government about the plan but Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made no efforts to thwart the nefarious plan.

“Already rights on Krishna River are handed over to the KRMB by the Congress Government. When I was the Chief Minister I objected to the Central Government’s move to link Godavari with the Cauvery. But this Government made no such move,” KCR said.

Exuding confidence that the BJP would not cross the 200 mark in the Lok Sabha elections, KCR said that the BRS by winning 15 seats would play a very crucial role at the Centre.

Wondering why the Station Ghanpur MLA and former Minister Kadiyam shifted to the Congress, KCR said that he sealed his political future by quitting the BRS. “ In 3 months Station Ghanpur Constituency will have a by-election because he will be disqualified and Rajaiah of BRS will become the new MLA,” he said.

Assuring the minorities that the BRS would never sacrifice its secular credentials for petty political gains, KCR said that his daughter K Kavitha was incarcerated by the BJP Government only to arm-twist him to join the NDA fold.

“A vote for the Congress means a vote for the BJP. But recall that there were no communal riots during the decade-long rule of the BRS,” he said cautioning the minorities.

KCR said that a lot of restructuring work of Telangana was pending and wanted people to be alert till May 13 and elect BRS candidates so that the unfinished agenda could be completed.

Recalling the role played by Warangal in the formation of the State, KCR said that Warangal was steeped in the culture of Telangana. He said that both Kaloji and Professor Jayashankar played a crucial role in the fight for statehood for Telangana.

“Warangal was neglected by the earlier Governments. The Azamzahi mill was closed. However, the BRS undertook development projects. We constructed a 24-floor super-specialty hospital, Health university, Kakatiya Mega Textiles Park, and five medical colleges, in ten years,” KCR said

KCR said that the BRS Government brought water from the Kaleshwaram project to irrigate vast tracts in Narsampet, Bhupalapally Dornakal, Parkala, and Palakurthy, but the Chief Minister was not ready to accept the fact. “Revanth says he constructed Krishna River. Can anyone build a river?” KCR pointed out.

Warning the State Government that soon the BRS would agitate against the intentional delay in approving new real estate projects in the State only to terrify the construction sector, KCR said that the Congress Government issued no clearance to projects despite the presence of the TS-bPASS that assures clearance within 21 days. “Builders are now forced to pay bribes for permissions and occupancy certificates,” the former CM said.
