454 candidates in fray for Lok Sabha, 2,387 for Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh after withdrawals
Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena has declared the final list of candidates remaining in the fray for the simultaneous polls to be held in the State on May 13.
AMARAVATI: With the process of withdrawal of nominations ending last Monday the Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena has declared the final list of candidates remaining in the fray for the simultaneous polls to be held in the State on May 13.
While 454 candidates remained in the fray for the 25 Lok Sabha seats, 2,387 candidates remained in the fray for the 175 Assembly seats.
According to a statement issued by the CEO here, 49 candidates withdrew their nominations for the LS seats and 318 withdrew nominations for the Assembly seats.
In all 503 nominations were filed for 25 LS seats and 2,705 nominations were filed for 175 Assembly seats during the nomination phase from May 18 to May 25. While 33 candidates remained in the fray in Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry with 12 candidates has the lowest number of candidates in the fray.
While the Tirupati Assembly Constituency has the highest with 46 candidates, Chodavaram with six candidates has the lowest.
