VIJAYAWADA: Satish Kumar, the accused in the attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been granted conditional bail.

The 8th Additional District Court in Vijayawada issued the bail order on Tuesday following a hearing on Satish's petition for bail. The court reserved its verdict on Monday after listening to arguments from both sides.

During the hearing, Saleem, the defence lawyer representing Satish, argued that the police had wrongfully implicated his client in the case. In contrast, the public prosecutor asserted that Satish had intentionally attacked the Chief Minister with the intent to cause harm. After considering the arguments, the judge decided to grant Satish bail.

The incident occurred when Jagan Mohan Reddy's was campaigning on a bus as part of his Memantha Siddham Bus Yatra on April 13 in Vijayawada. He was attacked near Ajit Singh Nagar, and Vellampalli Srinivas, who was accompanying the Chief Minister, sustained an eye injury. The police registered a case of attempted murder and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter.

The SIT identified Satish Kumar, a resident of Vaddera Colony in Ajit Singh Nagar, as the perpetrator who threw concrete stones at the Chief Minister. Satish was sent to judicial remand following his arrest and has since been held in Nellore Jail. With the granting of conditional bail, Satish is expected to be released soon, pending further legal proceedings.
