TIRUPATI: Peeved by the ‘kiss and hug’ incident involving Adipurush film director Om Raut and heroine Kriti Sanon outside Tirumala temple on Wednesday, a religious outfit in Tirupati decided to lodge a complaint against the two celebrities.

Sanatana Dharma Parirakshana Samithi of Marutinagar in Tirupati on Thursday approached the University Police Station in Tirupati to lodge a complaint against the director and the heroine of the much-awaited pan-India film. They complained that the director and the actress hurt the sentiments of Hindus through their brazen act of kissing and hugging in front of the shrine.

Speaking to Newstap, Kiran Kumar, the president of the organization, said that the police had refused to accept the complaint due to jurisdictional issues and directed them to lodge a complaint at the Tirumala police station on Friday.

Adipurush movie which was mired in controversies from the beginning, was in the eye of yet another storm following the Tirumala incident. Incidentally on Monday, one Sanjay Dinanath Tiwari lodged a complaint at the Sakinaka Police Station in Mumbai against the producer and director of the film Adipurush for not depicting Lord Rama as per the ‘Ram Charita Manas’ scripture. A case was registered under sections 295 (A), 298, 500, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

The complainant mentioned that the attire of Prabhas, portraying Lord Rama, was not as per the beliefs and recorded evidence of the attire of Lord Rama fondly called as known as ‘Maryada Purushottama’. As a Kshatriya king the actor playing the role of Lord Rama must be wearing the sacred thread (Jinev) he mentioned.
