VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh state government on Monday rescued 160 students from Manipur's NIT, IIT, and Central Agriculture University who were stranded in strife-torn Manipur.

Two helpline numbers were established in Andhra Pradesh Bhavan, New Delhi, to connect students with their families back home (011-23384016, 011-23387089). The data collected from the control room at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan permitted the tracking of over 160 students, allowing the efforts to be streamlined in order to ensure the safe passage of all students.

The government of Andhra Pradesh coordinated with officials from the Government of India's Ministry of Civil Aviation and arranged two more aircrafts for the stranded students, one bound for Hyderabad and the other for Kolkata.

As many as 157 Andhra Pradesh students were brought back to the airports of Hyderabad and Kolkata on May 8,2023. A team of two officials from Andhra Pradesh Bhavan officials were sent to welcome the students at Kolkata Airport and assist them with connecting flights to Hyderabad.

Andhra Pradesh's government also provided APSRTC buses to pick up students at Hyderabad Airport and transport them to their various hometowns in Andhra Pradesh.

The government of Andhra Pradesh is working with the government of Manipur to ensure that students arrive at the airport safely. Andhra Pradesh's government expressed profound gratitude to Manipur authorities for their continuous cooperation throughout the process.

Andhra Pradesh's administration, led by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, pledged to assist the stranded students in every way possible.
