Andhra Pradesh: High Court on Wednesday set aside the GO No. 11 on the conduct of the ambitious ‘Mega DSC’ job notification issued by the YS Jagan Mohan reddy Government to fill up 6,100 teachers posts in different categories – SGT, TGT, PGT, and Principals in different State-run schools.

Advocate Jada Sravan Kumar presented the arguments on behalf of the petitioners stating that permitting candidates with B Ed qualification to apply for the Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) posts was in contravention of the Supreme Court order. He said that lakhs of candidates with D Ed qualification would be deprived of an opportunity to compete, if the B Ed candidates were allowed to apply for the SGT posts.

Accordingly, the division bench of Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Raghunandan Rao directed the State Government not to allow the candidates with B Ed qualifications to apply for SGT posts. The High Court also asked the State Government to strictly comply with the Supreme Court orders to take up the selection process.

The court adjourned the matter by eight weeks.

Advocate-General S Sriram appeared on behalf of the State Government. He reportedly assured the court that the State Government would make amends to the eligibility criterion.
