AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Thammineni Seetharam on Wednesday suspended 13 members – 12 TDP legislators and YSRCP rebel MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy – from the House for causing disruption to the proceedings. Of these, three members, Sridhar Reddy, Payyavula Kesav and Nimmala Ramanaidu, were suspended from the House for the entire duration of the Assembly budget session. The others attracted suspension only for a day.

The other suspended members of the TDP are Bendalam Ashok, Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, Adireddy Bhavani, Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, Gana Babu, Gadde Rammohan, Manthena Ramaraju, Gottipati Ravikumar, Eluri Sambasiva Rao and Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy.

However, the decision to suspend the 13 members resulted in some drama with YSRCP rebel legislator Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy staging a protest at the speaker’s podium. He said that he had only requested that civic problems pending in his Assembly constituency be resolved and questioned as to how he could be suspended from the House for this reason.

Staying put at the staircase leading to the speaker’s podium, Sridhar Reddy expressed his anguish that he had been punished unreasonably. Demanding an explanation from the Speaker as to what wrong he had committed, he raised slogans against his suspension.
