HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) conducted searches at the residence of Donthireddy Vasudeva Reddy, the former managing director of Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL), in Nanakramguda on Friday.

CID officials are reportedly examining crucial documents at Vasudeva Reddy's home in connection with allegations that he facilitated the manipulation of the liquor trade and distilleries in Andhra Pradesh, allegedly benefiting the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government by crores over the past five years.

On April 17, the Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred Vasudeva Reddy from his position as APSBCL MD following accusations of misconduct related to liquor distribution. Complaints were filed with the ECI by D Purandeswari and K Atchannaidu, state presidents of the BJP and TDP, respectively, who alleged that the APSBCL was illegally assisting the YSRCP government with the liquor trade.
