AMARAVATI: In a major relief to former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail in the Inner Ring Road (IRR), free sand and liquor license cases registered against him by the AP CID at the ACB Special Court.

Justice T Mallikharjuna Rao who had earlier reserved the judgment, delivered the verdict while directing the accused to be available for any further questioning by the authorities. Along with Chandrababu Naidu, the Court also granted bail to the then Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra and Excise Commissioner IS Naresh, imposing similar conditions in the liquor case.

Arguing for Chandrababu Naidu, senior supreme court advocate Sidharth Luthra, senior High Court lawyers Dammalapati Srinivas and Posani Venkateswarlu said that a false case had been registered against their client in the IRR case, where no such road was ever built in Amaravati. Advocate General S Sriram and Additional Advocate General Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy arguing for the APCID, urged the Court not to give anticipatory bail as the APCID had already filed for a PT warrant at the ACB special Court against the skill scam accused.

While the High Court already gave bail to Chandrababu Naidu in the skill scam case on November 20, 2023, the quash petition of Naidu in the same case was pending before the Supreme Court
