Botcha faces ire from Telangana ministers for comments on education system

HYDERABAD: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders in Telangana took a strong exception to the comments made by Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Botcha Satyanarayana on Thursday where he criticised the Telangana State Education Policy.

Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada on the sidelines of AP RGUKT IIIT results, Satyanarayana said, “It is not correct to compare education policies of Andhra Pradesh with Telangana. The education system there is full of scams and several people have been arrested in the TSPSC exam paper leak. Moreover, they are not in a position to complete the transfers of their teachers. Andhra Pradesh has its unique policies and practices.”

Reacting to this, Telangana Minister for Civil Supplies, Gangula Kamalakar, said that it was unfair to compare the education system of both the states.

“The BRS Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is providing quality education in the country. Andhra leaders are still spitting venom on Telangana, the statehood for which was achieved after several struggles. The Telangana Government had proved its commitment and arrested the people involved in the TSPSC paper leak scam," he said.

Sharing his views on Andhra Pradesh's education scenario, Kamalakar added, "Even now, teachers in Andhra Pradesh have to pay a bribe of Rs 1 lakh for getting transferred to their preferred location. Alternately the transfer of teacher in Telangana goes on in a transparent manner."

Kamalakar also claimed that MLAs and the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) had allegedly collected money from a lot of aspirants and duped them.

The Minister demanded that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy should expel Botcha Satyanarayana from his cabinet for his distasteful remarks on the Telangana education system. Kamalakar even demanded Botcha to not enter Hyderabad before tendering an apology.

Meanwhile, Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud criticised the fact that “Andhra Pradesh is a State without a capital. Instead of making unnecessary remarks on Telangana's education system, Botcha Satyanarayana should check the number of scams that came to light in APPSC before mudslinging Telangana”, he said.
