NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday said that the Centre disbursed Rs 10,460 crore to Andhra Pradesh in May 2023 as compensation for the revenue deficit suffered by the State during the financial year 2014-15.

In reply to a question raised by BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao in Rajyasabha, Nirmala Sitharaman said that the revenue deficit grant was released by the Centre in May, 2023 as part of the package of measures and also after considering the request by the Andhra Pradesh Government.

As a second measure, the Centre provided relief to the Andhra Pradesh Government by delaying adjustment of over-borrowing by it in previous years, she said. Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Centre disbursed Rs 14,970.09 crore towards Polavaram Irrigation Project so far.
