AMARAVATI: The meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) legislature party has unanimously elected TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu as their leader and Chief Minister candidate here on Tuesday.

Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan proposed the name of Chandrababu as the leader of the legislative party and BJP State president D Purandheswari supported the proposal.

Earlier, TDP Andhra Pradesh chief K Atchen Naidu declared that Chandrababu was unanimously elected as the leader of the TDP legislature party. The resolution will be sent to the Governor by the MLAs.

Vizag commercial capital

Later addressing the TDP-JSP-BJP legislators Chandrababu Naidu said that his Government would ensure the development of Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and Kurnool without any prejudice.

“We will develop Visakhapatnam as an economic hub as its people blessed the NDA candidates despite the offer of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that he would take oath in Visakhapatnam on June 9 and make it as AP’s executive capital,” Naidu pointed out.

Rebuild State

“I have seen many elections, but this time the verdict is unbelievable and historic. But we have to keep our promises. People came forward to protect the state,” he said. Chandrababu Naidu attributed the landslide victory of NDA to the people of the State. He said that the alliance would take the responsibility of developing the State in response to the faith imposed on the NDA.

Thanking the Jana Sena and the BJP activists for their unflinching cooperation, Naidu said that there was not even a single coordination issue among the alliance partners during the campaign or afterward. “The discipline resembled aspirations of the three-party activists,” Naidu observed.

The TDP chief said that even though the TDP won the 1994 elections in a one-sided fight it never won so many seats as the 2024 election. “People have entrusted us with the responsibility of running the state. This time we (NDA) won 164 out of 175 seats. We lost just 11 seats. There is a 93 percent strike rate. This is a unique achievement in the country's history, the country stopped and looked at us with admiration,” he said. He added that the NDA won five out of seven seats in Kadapa, which was unprecedented in history.

Pawan Kalyan’s spontaneity

He recalled the day Pawan Kalyan met me in jail and announced that he would join hands with the TDP even though he was in alliance with the BJP. “Outside the jail, he took an oath that he would not let the opposition vote to split. He brought the BJP together. He never contradicted his promises. We had apprehensions on vote transfer but the first even NDA public meeting in Kovvur addressed by Home Minister Amit Shah shattered all those apprehensions,” Naidu said. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meetings at Rajamahendravaram, Anakapalle, Rajampet, and Vijayawada road shows sealed the fate of the YSRCP.

“PM and NDA leaders are coming tomorrow for the swearing-in ceremony. It is the fourth time but it will be different in many ways. I was in political life for 45 years. I follow the Constitution, I will be impartial, and will work for the welfare of the people. No revenge on anyway, but I assure legal action on culprits,” he said.

“Jagan Mohan Reddy started his governance with the demolition of Praja Vedika. But we don’t believe in destruction or revenge politics. Like I promised we will conduct the Assembly as ‘Gourava Sabha’, not like a ‘Kourava Sabha,’ Naidu said.

Focus on Amaravati

He assured the NDA MLAs that he would work in tandem with the union Government to complete Polavaram, and Amaravati and develop Vizag and Kurnool without any discrimination. He assured that he would follow Narendra Modi’s mantra of ‘Vikasit Bharat’, to transform the state as ‘Vikasit Andhra Pradesh’. Recalling his days in Rajamahendravaram jail, Naidu said that his Government would wipe out the tears of all the victims of the former YCP Government in the State.
