AMARAVATI: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced that if voted to power the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance will retain the volunteer system and will raise their monthly payment to Rs 10,000.

Addressing the Ugadi festivities at the TDP headquarters in Mangalagiri on Tuesday, he said that his Government would increase the monthly payment of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. “They need not fear we will continue the system, as they help the people. We will strengthen the system further,” Naidu said.

Wishing the people of Andhra Pradesh self-reliance and welfare on the occasion of Ugadi, he said that the State must progress after a five-year-long misrule in the State by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. “During the past five years, the State witnessed only bad things. We must all take a pledge to defeat YCP and rebuild the State,” he said.

“The State finances are in the doldrums. The state has a debt of Rs 14 lakh crore and outstanding bills of Rs 1.50 lakh crore. Roads are in bad condition and require repairs. While encouraging creation of wealth the Government must also increase the real income of the people,” he said.

Exuding confidence that the NDA alliance in the State would form a Government in Andhra Pradesh he explained that the main aim of the alliance was to prevent a split in the anti-incumbency vote.
