RAJAHMUNDRY: TDP National General Secretary Lokesh has asserted that Chandrababu Naidu's arrest is solely a consequence of his vocal stance against the YSRCP Government's irregularities and unfulfilled commitments, particularly concerning Polavaram.

After meeting his father and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu in jail after returning from New Delhi, Lokesh interacted with the media and termed the arrest a political vendetta.

"Naidu initiated this case in interest of the people to bring to light the Government's irregularities. As a result, he was put in custody for a period of 28 days," he added.

Lokesh said that initially there were allegations of corruption amounting to Rs 3,000 crore. Subsequently, this figure was reduced to Rs 300 crore. "Chandrababu's detention has been linked exclusively to the party's achievements. The YSRCP has manipulated the system and sent Chandrababu to jail," Lokesh said.

Lokesh said while interaction with his father during mulaqat, Naidu and urged for continuation of peaceful protests against his arrest.

Lokesh appealed to the public for display of unity by lighting candles and using mobile flashlights at 7 pm on October 7, 2023.

Speaking about his Delhi tour, Lokesh said that he personally briefed the President and leaders of other parties on the situation. He reported that these leaders affirmed Chandrababu's innocence and assured him of his eventual exoneration.
