VIJAYAWADA: Hours after arrest of Chandrababu Naidu, the ruling YSRCP Government claimed that his arrest was not politically motivated and that it was thoroughly probed. This is what Andhra Pradesh Government Advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said in a press conference at the party office in Tadepalli.
Sajjala: In this case, Naidu was arrested only after sleuths had strong evidence. This is the worst deep-rooted economic offence in the history of Independent India.
Reacting to Naidu's claim that there was no evidence or proof shown to him before his arrest, Sajjala said, "This case has been going on since 2011. In the Income Tax notice too, there was clinching evidence."
"The CID officials are only arresting him for further questioning after strong evidence was gathered against him," he added.
Sajjala: YSRCP has no intention to do any politics. It is Naidu who is making this political in the last one week. He has been saying for the last one week that he would be arrested to evoke sympathy. Due process of the law has to be followed.
Sajjala: This is not like Karunananidhi case. He was not arrested at midnight. He was arrested in broad daylight. There is no need for Jagan to arrest him for political reason. If we had intentions to arrest him politically, we could have done that when Jagan came to power in 2019. There are merits in the case.
