VIJAYAWADA: Tension prevailed in Gudivada in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, when a fans associations of Megastar Chiranjeevi took out a rally and condemned the remarks made by Gudivada MLA and former Minister Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao (Nani).

Kodali Nani on Tuesday retorted that insignificant people shouldn’t comment on politics. Nani also referred to people making such comments as “pakkodi fellows”, though he did not name Chiranjeevi. Taking a serious note of Kodali Nani’s remarks, fans associations of Chiranjeevi took out a rally.

As part of the rally, members of the fans association raised slogans and carried placards ‘Jai Chiranjeeva’ and ‘Kodali Nani Down Down’. On that occasion, the fans associations demanded Kodali Nani to tender an open apology to Chiranjeevi. A tense atmosphere prevailed for a while, when police personnel prevented the fans association members from continuing their rally.

Heated arguments were exchanged between the fans association members and police, leading to a minor scuffle. With the situation going out of control, the police arrested Chiranjeevi Yuvatha, President Kandula Ravi and others. At that moment, members of the fans association prevented the police vehicles from sleeping on the roads and intensified a tense atmosphere in Gudivada Town.

With fans associations of Chiranjeevi turning out in large numbers, it had become a herculean task for the police personnel to prevent them from continuing their rally. With no option left, the fans association members staged a protest on Vijayawada main road near AGK School Centre and denounced the indifferent attitude of the police personnel towards their rally.

Later, the fans association members poured milk on the statue of Kapu leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga. The fans association members alleged that Kodali Nani, who became an MLA with the support of fans associations of Chiranjeevi and followers of Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, would be taught a befitting lesson in the upcoming elections.
