NEW DELHI: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy has appealed to the Union Government to expeditiously complete the construction of permanent campuses for central educational institutions established in Andhra Pradesh.

During a debate on the Central Universities Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Vijayasai Reddy said that as per the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act, the Union Government had opened almost all the central educational institutions including the tribal university in the State. However, there was a delay in the construction of permanent campuses for them, he said.

Vijayasai Reddy said that due to delay in construction of permanent campuses some of the educational institutions were still working from temporary campuses. Apart from that, there was no opportunity for expansion of courses and other academic activities in those educational institutions, he said and added that academic activities would begin only if the permanent campuses were completed.

He appealed to the Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradan to ensure the construction completion of the permanent campuses of the respective educational institutions at the earliest and take necessary steps to establish high standards of education in them.
