AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has called upon the officials concerned to provide compensation for the loss of human and livestock due to the cyclonic storm Michaung in the State within 48 hours.

The Chief Minister conducted a review meeting with the special chief secretary (Revenue and Disaster Management) G Sai Prasad, CCLA secretary A Md Imtiaz, and CMO officials at his camp office in Tadepalli here on Tuesday. He took stock of the measures taken by the officials to provide relief for the victims in the cyclone-affected areas.

The officials informed the Chief Minister that the cyclonic storm would cross the coast between Chirala and Bapatla. Due to this the cyclone effect gradually reduced in Tirupati and Nellore districts from Tuesday morning and relief programmes were continuing vigorously. Sai Prasad said that district collectors of Prakasam, Guntur, and Krishna were asked to be vigilant. So far, as many as 9,500 people were shifted to around 211 rehabilitation camps, he added.

YS Jagan asked the officials to provide all necessary facilities to them and ensure there were no lapses while providing relief measures to the cyclone-affected victims. Steps should be taken by the electricity department officials to restore the power supply in Nellore and Tirupati on war footing, he said. The Chief Minister also asked the officials to gear up for the enumeration of losses to standing crops and suggested them take up the distribution of ration efficiently by using village/ward secretariat and volunteer systems.
