BHOGAPURAM: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy will lay the foundation for the Bhogapuram International Airport on May 3, said Information Technology Minister Gudivada Amarnath on Monday.

Minister Amarnath held a review of the land acquired for the construction of Bhogapuram Airport besides inspecting the construction site and the venue chosen for the Chief Minister's public meeting on May 3. He heard from the officials on the current land acquisition procedures. He also reviewed with officials the arrangements for the foundation stone-laying ceremony and the public meeting following it.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Amarnath said that the State Government accorded high priority to the development of the Bhogapuram airport, treating it as a prestigious project. He said that the construction of this airport would fulfill a long-cherished dream of the people of the North Andhra (Uttarandhra) region.

He said that all the necessary formalities for the laying of the foundation stone had been accomplished. The initial phase of land acquisition for the airport, to be built in over 2,200 acres, has also already been completed, he said, adding that the remainder of land acquisition will be completed soon.

Asserting that he would fulfill all his promises made to the people, Gudivada Amarnath said that the airport would be completed in 24 to 30 months’ time.
