HYDERABAD: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday moved the Supreme Court challenging the interim bail granted to Magunta Raghava Reddy by the Delhi High Court in the Delhi liquor policy scandal. The apex court will hear the money-laundering probe agency’s petition on Friday.

The vacation bench of the Delhi High Court granted interim bail of 15 days to Raghava Reddy as he pleaded that his wife was sick and he needed to attend to her. Arguing that the reason mentioned by the accused was wrong, the counsel for ED requested the Supreme Court to take up its petition for hearing on Friday. Concurring with the request, the vacation bench of the Supreme Court agreed to hear the petition on Friday.

Raghava Reddy, the son of YSRCP MP from Ongole Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, was one of the many arrested from the so-called south group lobby in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scandal. On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court vacation bench granted conditional bail to Raghava Reddy. He was arrested by the ED on February 11, 2023. The court considered his plea that he needed to attend to his ailing wife after verifying her medical records. Even as the counsel representing Raghava Reddy pleaded for bail for six weeks, the judge granted interim bail for only 15 days.
