VIJAYAWADA: It was a double delight of sorts for Bora Varun Chakravarthi of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. Within a span of 24 hours, the aspiring doctor ended up bagging top ranks in two prestigious entrance examinations. In the NEET results announced on Tuesday, he emerged as the country’s joint topper and on Wednesday, his family was struck with the news of Varun securing second rank in the AP EAPCET results.

Varun Chakravarthy shared the top rank in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), 2023 along with Prabhanjan J from Tamil Nadu. They both scored 720 out of 720 marks in the results declared on Tuesday. Even as the family was flooded with congratulatory messages from all quarters, there came yet another accolade for Varun. The NEET topper also ended up securing the second rank in the Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture, and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (EAPCET) 2023 in the Agriculture stream with a total of 151 marks out of 160 announced on Wednesday.

Varun Chakravarthy underwent training at Sri Chaitanya coaching centre in Vijayawada. Speaking to Newstap, an elated parents of Varun gave an account of the hard work he put in for the challenging NEET. “Since his childhood, my son aspired to become a doctor to help and serve the lives of the needy. Once he realised that NEET was a stepping stone, he started preparing for the national-level entrance examination and secured top rank which is a proud moment for us,’’ they said.

Varun Chakravarthy said that he was a native of Thotada village in the erstwhile combined Srikakulam district and his parents were working as teachers. ‘’Securing top rank in NEET is a very proud moment for me and my family members. Credit to my parents and teachers. I am keen on joining AIIMS, New Delhi, to pursue MBBS,’’ the NEET topper said.

Four other students from Andhra Pradesh, Y Lakshmi Pravadhan Reddy, V Harshil Sai, Kaniyasari and K Praneeth Reddy, made it to the top 50. They secured All-India Ranks 25, 38, 40 and 45 respectively.
