Elderly man collapses while heading to collect pension in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh

VIJAYAWADA: An elderly man named Ponna Subbarao lost consciousness while on his way to collect his old-age pension at the Secretariat in Challapalli, located in the Avanigadda constituency of Krishna district on Wednesday.

According to reports, local residents promptly called emergency services (108) and transported him to the Challapalli Government Hospital. Currently, he is receiving treatment there.

Many pensioners in Andhra Pradesh are reportedly anxious due to delays in receiving their pension payments, attributed to restrictions imposed by election authorities following a complaint by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

On April 2, 2024, a 70-year-old pensioner named K Venkat Rao passed away in Turangi village, located within the Kakinada rural segment of Andhra Pradesh. The distribution of pensions in the area had been halted by election authorities.
