Election Commission serves notice on YS Jagan for remarks on Chandrababu Naidu

AMARAVATI: The Election Commission of India (ECI) served notice on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy seeking his explanation for the 'derogatory' comments made by him against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu, within 48 hours.

Chief Electoral Officer CEO Mukesh Kumar Meena on Sunday issued the notice to the Chief Minister based on a complaint by TDP leader Varla Ramaiah. The TDP leader complained that YS Jagan made derogatory comments against Chandrababu Naidu in violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Based on the preliminary assessment the CEO found that Reddy's comments violated the model code of conduct.

In a recent "Memantha Siddham" meeting, YS Jagan compared opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu to 'Pashupati', a character from the movie Arundhati, suggesting that Chandrababu Naidu's habit is to cheat.

The CEO served notice to Nara Chandrababu Naidu four days ago for making derogatory comments against YS Jagan. YSRCP State general secretary Lella Appi Reddy made that complaint. Naidu called YS Jagan a monsters, thief, and evil-doer at rallies in Yemmiganur, Markapuram, and Bapatla.
