Fibernet scam: HC disposes hearing of Lokesh’s anticipatory bail

AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday, hearing the anticipatory bail petition of TDP leader Nara Lokesh Andhra Pradesh in the Fibernet scam case, disposed off the petition based on technical grounds.

While the counsel for Nara Lokesh sought anticipatory bail, Andhra Pradesh Advocate General S Subramanya Sriram told the court that Lokesh was not added as an accused in the case and if required he would be notified under section 41 A. Following this, the court disposed off the case without delivering any further orders on the issue.

The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) filed a petition in the ACB Special Court in Vijayawada seeking a PT Warrant on former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in the Fibernet scam.

The CID registered an FIR accusing 16 persons and two companies on September 9, 2021, of the alleged irregularities in AP State Fibernet Limited (APSFL), involving a scam to the tune of Rs 115 crore.
