VIJAYAWADA: A massive fire broke out at a TVS two wheeler showroom at KP Nagar in Vijayawada in the wee hours of Thursday. Over 300 two wheelers gutted in the fire and, however, there were no casualties.

Upon obtaining information, the fire brigade plunged into action and doused the fire with the help of three fire engines. According to fire officials, the fire broke out due to a short circuit on the first floor of the showroom building. The fire spread rapidly to the nearby godown as the showroom was constructed in a prefabricated way and EV scooters were kept along with the two wheeler operated by petrol, the fire officials said.

A team of police personnel rushed to the spot and launched an inquiry into the incident. After examining the spot, the police said that the TVS showroom located on Chennai-Kolkata National Highway was the head office for the erstwhile Krishna district and hundreds of two wheelers, including EV scooters, were kept in the godown and service centre adjacent to the showroom.

The police registered a case and further investigations are underway into the incident.
