Fleeing red sanders smugglers ram vehicle killing AR constable in Annamayya district

RAYACHOTI: An armed reserve constable Ganesh was killed when Red Sandalwood smugglers rammed their vehicle into him in KV Palli in the Annamayya district.

The incident occurred after the police launched an inspection at Gundravaripalli cross in KV Palli mandal and tried to stop the vehicle carrying red sandalwoods. However, the smugglers in a bid to escape the police dragnet rammed the vehicle into the police, which led to the killing of AR Constable Ganesh.

The police chased the smugglers and caught one of them besides seizing seven red sandalwood logs from their possession while three others escaped. Upon learning of the matter, KV Palli police and task force officials reached the spot and launched a massive search operation for the remaining accused.
