Former YSRCP Minister welcomed in Visakhapatnam with garland of shoes
Things escalated in the village when police attempted to detain the protestors
VISAKHAPATNAM: Former YSRCP minister Avanti Srinivas was received with a garland made of footwear by local villagers from his own constituency in Bheemlipatnam in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
According to reports, when the minister visited Bheemli to attend a government programme, angry villagers welcomed him with footwear garland as part of their protest. Villagers were observed stringing footwear garlands across the road to prevent him from entering their village.
However, when the local police learned about the villagers' protest, they intervened and interrupted it. Things escalated in the village when police attempted to detain the protestors.
Avanti Srinivas, who continued his program, claimed that a few TDP party members arranged the protest on purpose.
