VIJAYAWADA: Battling for life for almost a week after a gruesome acid attack that left her blind, a 35-year-old woman died at a private hospital in Tadepalli on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Y Francika, a resident of Xavier Nagar in Eluru. She was working as a receptionist in a dental college near Duggirala and her husband is a chemical engineer in Rajamahendravaram. The woman, who had disputes with her husband, was staying away with her parents along with her five-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred on June 13, 2023 when Francika was returning home on her two-wheeler. Two persons, who pretended to be bystanders on the same road threw acid on her face. She suffered serious burn injuries and even lost eyesight. Initially, she was rushed to Vijayawada Government Hospital. She was then referred for specialised treatment at a private hospital, where she breathed her last.

The police have already arrested the accused in connection with the acid attack case. The accused were identified as Boda Naga Satish, Behara Mohan and B Ushakiran. The motives behind the acid attack against the woman are yet to be ascertained by the police. Further investigation is going on.
