Group 1 exam 2018: AP High Court suspends single judge order scrapping selection process

A division bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday suspended the verdict given by the single-judge bench on Group1 examinations conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in 2018.

AMARAVATHI: A division bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday suspended the verdict given by the single-judge bench on Group1 examinations conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in 2018.

The court asserted that all those who were recurited and were serving in various positions would continue in their jobs. The court adjourned the hearing by a week. The single-judge bench scrapped the axamination while disposing of a write petition by several candidates who had contended that the Mains exam answer scripts were evaluated twice.

However, the State Government appealed to the division bench challenging the verdict of the single-judge bench.

It maybe recalled that a single-judge bench of the AP High Court on March 13 this year scrapped the examination process and selection of candidates for Group-1 examinations conducted by the APPSC in 2018. The court had directed the State Government to conduct the examination once again and ensure that the selection process was completed within six months. The court, dealing with a petition of the aspirants who had appeared for the Group-1 main examination in 2018, pronounced its verdict cancelling the results. The court also asked the Government to complete the entire process within the time frame set by the Court.
