IMD issues heavy rainfall alert for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana

HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with heavy rainfall also expected in isolated regions of Coastal & South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.

According to IMD, this weather pattern is influenced by a cyclonic circulation over south Tamil Nadu and another over Rayalaseema and adjoining north Tamil Nadu, as well as a trough extending from south Chhattisgarh to the Comorin area.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, and Rayalaseema may experience widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph), while isolated to scattered rainfall is expected in these areas with similar weather conditions over next seven days.
