HYDERABAD: In a significant development, the BJP, the TDP, and the JSP have announced their decision to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh together.

In a joint press statement by BJP national president JP Nadda, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, and Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan issued on Saturday, the leaders emphasised the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in driving the nation's development agenda. "The alliance aims to align with the aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh and work towards their betterment," read the statement.

Highlighting the historical ties between the BJP and the TDP, the statement recalled their longstanding association within the NDA dating back to 1996.

The parties had previously collaborated successfully during the tenures of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Notably, in the 2014 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the TDP and the BJP contested together.

The Jana Sena Party's support during the 2014 General and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh was also acknowledged, indicating a continuation of the collaborative spirit among the parties.

The modalities of seat-sharing among the BJP, TDP, and Jana Sena are expected to be finalised within a day or two. The alliance anticipates garnering the wholehearted support of the people of Andhra Pradesh, with a shared vision of progress and prosperity for the State.
