KAKINADA: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has called upon people to be wary of the gimmicks and conspiracies of opposition parties that are planning to have unholy electoral alliances and create divisions in families for political gains.

Addressing a huge public meeting after formally launching the upgraded Rs 3,000 monthly social pension distribution at the RMC Grounds here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister asked people not to be carried away by the false electoral promises of the TDP and the Jana Sena.

Affirming that he was happy to see smiles growing on pensioners’ faces every year, Jagan said, "The Government is spending Rs 1,968 crore every month on social pensions. The volunteers, irrespective of public holidays, are working hard to distribute pensions at sunrise on first of every month to keep pensioners happy. The Government has been implementing the pension scheme in full transparency irrespective of caste, creed and political affiliations unlike the TDP rule that determined beneficiaries through the corrupt Janma Bhoomi Committees which favoured its supporters."

The Chief Minister asked people to see the difference between the situation currently and that during TDP's rule when which there were no schemes like Amma Vodi, Rythu Bharosa, YSR Aasara, Kapu Nestam, Netanna Nestam, Vahana Mitra, EBC Nestam, Jagananna Thodu and Jagananna Chedodu and said that the Government spent Rs 2,46,000 crore on the DBT welfare schemes in the last 55 months.

"While Naidu pursued the policy of plunder, stash and devour during the TDP's rule with the support of his foster son and gang of robbers, the Government spent Rs 26,000 crore on Amma Vodi, Rs 33,330 crore on Rythu Bharosa, Rs 19,178 crore on YSR Asara and Rs 14,129 crore on YSR Cheyutha benefitting 44,49,000 mothers, 53,52,000 farmers, 78,94,000 women self help groups and 26,40,000 women in the age group of 45 to 60 respectively.

"This is the Government of the poor having affection towards people and commitment to solve their issues," Jagan said, adding that the Government had distributed 31 lakh house site pattas and 22 lakh houses which were under construction while not even a single house site was distributed during the TDP's regime.

"While the TDP, which promised to build houses for the poor, cheated them throwing the 2014 election manifesto into the dustbin, the foster son, who was silent on Naidu’s cheating, unabashedly went to the jail and consoled Naidu who was arrested in skill development scam," Jagan said.

Objecting to the actor’s complaint to the Centre on construction of houses for the poor, the Chief Minister said that it had only exposed the hypocrisy of the actor-turned politician.

The number of social pensioners went up to 66.34lakh in 2024 from 39 lakh in TDP rule, he said, adding that Rs 83,526 crore was spent on pension distribution alone in the last 55 months.

Cautioning the people on the fake elections promises of the opposition, the Chief Minister told them that he was depending on them and God unlike the TDP which was ready to offer one kg of gold and even a Benz car to each family for electoral gains and then cheat them.

Responding to the appeal of the local MLA D Chandrasekhar Reddy, the Chief Minister sanctioned Rs 47crore for water pipelines in Jagannadhapuram area of Kakinada.
