VISAKHAPATNAM: Former member of the CBI and former politician from the Jana Sena VV Lakshminarayana on Monday said that he would be contesting from Visakhapatnam in the 2024 elections.

With news that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagamohan Reddy would move to Visakhapatnam and his announcement that it would also turn into a State capital, JD Lakshminarayana said that it was wrong of Jagan to declare his shifting as the matter was still in court. He said that such voluntary declarations were not valid and could be considered as contempt of court.

The former CBI member, speaking about the party he would be contesting from, said that he would decide the party much closer to the elections and nothing was confirmed now. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders were in contact with JD Lakshminarayana and also rolled out a few campaigns. However, he said that those were just campaigns and nothing was affirmed.

Referring to the incident where two YSRCP MLAs, Komatreddy Sridhar Reddy and Anam Ramanaraya Reddy, alleged that their phones were being tapped by their own party members, JD Lakshminarayana said that they should approach the court and the investigation system. “Phone tapping is a serious issue and they should take the help of the judiciary system. Frivolous allegations shouldn’t be made,” he said.
