AMARAVATI: A boy who was kidnapped by a woman in Mumbai one year ago was found by the Maharashtra police in Jaggayyapeta of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. The Maharashtra police took the boy back with them to Maharashtra.

According to the police, the boy was kidnapped in Mumbai in February 2022, after which a case was registered.

During the investigation, it was found that a woman hailing from Vijayawada by the name Sravani, kidnapped the boy and sold him to a woman from Jaggayyapeta for Rs 2 lakh. Later, a family from Dechupalem, known to be a relative of the Jaggayyapeta woman, adopted, or one could say bought, the child for Rs 3 lakh.

The police, who caught the kidnapper as well as the woman to whom the child was initially sold to, revealed that the family was reportedly raising the boy as their child and also joined him in a private school in Jaggayyapeta. The boy was rescued by the Maharashtra police from the school’s annual day function and was taken back to Maharashtra.

The police informed the family from Dechupalem that the boy wasn’t an orphan and was kidnapped from Mumbai. The family, who eventually let the boy go, were left in deep sorrow.
