VIZIANAGARAM: In a shocking incident, a man, who is a lawyer by profession, at the behest of his mother and brother, locked up his wife in a dark room for 11 long years in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh.

According to the details furnished by One Town CI B. Venkata Rao, Sai Priya of Sri Satyasai district got married to, Godavari Madhusudan, hailing from Cantonment Balaji Market in Vizianagaram in 2008, and the couple has two children. Madhusudan started harassing his wife at the behest of his mother Umamaheswari and his brother and subsequently locked her up in a dark room for 11 years.

Despite the victim's parents asking for the whereabouts of their daughter, Madhusudan threatened them using his clout as a lawyer. However, the victim's parents, who lost patience, complained to the Superintendent of Police and the One Town police, on the orders of the SP, visited Madhusudan's house on February 28 to search. However, Madhusudan denied them entry into the house asking whether they had a search warrant to inspect his house.

Against this backdrop, the police and victim's families who approached the court got the warrant to search Madhusudan's house and conducted inspections at the latter's house on Wednesday.

The police found Sai Priya in a dark room in a most horrific condition and produced her in the court. The One Town Circle Inspector said action would be taken against the accused as per the orders of the court.
