VISAKHAPATNAM: TDP Andhra Pradesh unit president K Atchhanaidu has alleged that there is a life threat to former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Rajamahendravaram Central Jail.

Chandrababu Naidu was sent to 14 days in judicial custody by a special anti-corruption bureau court on Sunday night, following his arrest in connection with scam in AP Skill Development Corporation.

Atchhanaidu, accompanied by former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and other senior leaders in the Northern Andhra region met Governor S Abdul Nazeer at Visakhapatnam port guest house on Monday. He complained to the Governor about the illegal arrest of Chandrababu Naidu and briefed him on the subsequent development and the police highhandedness towards TDP leaders and activists.

Speaking to the media, Atchhanaidu lashed out at the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Government for booking false charges against Chandrababu Naidu out of political vendetta. “Why has the YSRCP Government remained calm all the four-and-a-half years if corruption was found during the previous TDP regime. Intentionally, the YSRCP Government has registered a case against Chandrababu Naidu to affect the morale of the TDP cadre before the elections.”

Atchhanaidu also said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was gripped by fear after pre-poll surveys done by the national agencies predicted 15 Lok Sabha seats for the TDP in 2024. Moreover, the surveys also indicated that the TDP alliance with the Jana Sena party would dethrone the YSRCP from power in the State, he said, and added that the I-PAC team also warned him of the same.
