HYDERABAD: The Delhi High Court vacation bench on Wednesday granted a 15-day conditional bail to Magunta Raghava Reddy aka Raghu, an accused in the Delhi liquor policy scam and the son of YSRCP MP from Ongole Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy.

Raghava Reddy, who was arrested by the ED on February 11, 2023, was granted bail to attend to his ailing wife. The court considered his plea after verifying her medical records. Even as the counsel representing Raghava Reddy pleaded for bail for six weeks, the judge granted interim bail for only 15 days.

It is said that relief for Raghav Reddy came after Sarath Chandra Reddy, of the so-called south group and director of Aurobindo Pharma, turned an approver in the liquor case. Raghava Reddy was accused of representing several zones in Delhi.

Raghava Reddy owned liquor manufacturing units under the name of Enrica Enterprises Pvt Ltd located in Chennai. Contrary to the provisions of the excise policy 2021-22, he controlled two retail zones. The policy stipulated that a manufacturer should not hold either retail or wholesale operations. ED claimed that he was guilty of money laundering under section three of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) punishable under section four of the PMLA.
