RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: The two-day Telugu Desam Party’s Mahanadu in Vemagiri on the outskirts of Rajamahendravaram has set the stage for the regional party to motivate the party cadre for the coming elections, a do-or-die for the yellow party.

The city on the banks of river Godavari was decked up in yellow with banners and party paraphernalia. Digital screens, parking, and dining facilities were created at the 200-acre Vemagiri grounds.

The party representatives in the East Godavari district have made elaborate arrangements for the success of the meeting. Two different stages were set up one for the representative meeting on Saturday and another for the the public meeting on Sunday. A blood donation camp and photo exhibition were set up at the Mahanadu.

Huge cutouts of TDP founder NT Rama Rao, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and Nara Lokesh and floral decorations with more than one ton of flowers adorned the entrance of the Mahanadu grounds. However local leaders have complained that the YSRCP activists have torn down the TDP banners in many places and erected their banners.

The Mahanadu, a show of strength for the beleaguered party has succeeded in garnering a party cadre in huge numbers from almost all parts of the state and also from Telangana. Kasani Gnaneswar the Telangana-TDP chief has exuded confidence that the party would soon bounce back in the sibling state, looking at the confidence of the party cadre at Mahanadu.

The Mahandu food committee under Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, Gorantla Buchaiah Choudhary, and Jyothula Nehru prepared a menu for one lakh representatives on Saturday and for more than five lakhs on Sunday. The food is being prepared by Ambika Catering of Vijayawada. In all 1, 500 cooks were involved in making arrangements for the party cadre. The coastal delicacy “Tapeswaram Kaza” will be a special attraction on the menu.
