NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the petition filed by the Andhra Pradesh Government seeking transfer plea filed by Margadarsi Chit Fund Private Ltd (MCFPL) and others for hearing from the Telangana High Court to the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

The Apex Court advised the lawyers, representing the case for Andhra Pradesh Government, to produce their arguments before the Telangana High Court.

After hearing arguments from both the parties, the bench of Justice JK Maheswari and Justice KV Viswanath said that a re-trial was not required as the trial was already ongoing in the case. Apart from that, the SC said that it wouldn't interfere in the Telangana High Court orders to not take strict action against business tycoon and media baron Cherukuri Ramoji Rao and his daughter-in-law Ch Sailaja Kiran. The case would be inquired by the Telangana High Court based on the merits of the case, the SC bench said.

Further, the SC advised the lawyers to approach the Apex Court only after the final orders were passed by the Telangana High Court.
