GUNTUR: A massive theft was reported at a house, at a furlong distance from the police station near Mangalabavi street in Kothapet of Guntur city where the burglars have stolen 3 kg gold ornaments, 2 kg silver, and a cash of Rs. 2 lakh.

According to police, the owner of the house identified as Surinedi Narasimha Rao was off to the railway station to drop off his relatives at around 7 PM on Wednesday. The thieves. who noticed that there was no one at the house, broke into it and stole the gold and silver ornaments.

Narasimha Rao reached home later only to see his house door lock was broken and complained to the police. The Kothapet police inspected the house and upon a complaint, started an investigation.

The locals are expressing concern over the massive theft that occurred within furlong distance from the police station.
